This Blog site is intended to make all the Aikido articles written by Henry Ellis Sensei available on one site. Henry Ellis a direct student of the legendary Budo Master Kenshiro Abbe Sensei from 1957. K Abbe Sensei 1915 - 1985 introduced Aikido to the UK in 1955 with a small demonstration at the National Judo Championships at the Royal Albert Hall in 1955. After a few more demonstrations he took Ken Williams Sensei as his first student. Henry Ellis was the personal assistant to Williams Sensei from 1957 at the now famous Hut Dojo..

Aikido and MMA ~ The early Aikido as taught by Kenshiro Abbe Sensei included kicking and punching - atemi - Rik Ellis UK1 Light Heavyweight Champion - Henry Ellis Shihan - 18 yr old Jay Dods Ellis UK1 Lightweight champion - 1st - June - 2013 Jay knocked out Gary Kewley in the first round in 17 seconds with an Aikido high head kick at the UCMMA - Troxy London - Jay's record is now 10 wins - 0 draws - 1 loss. ~ Rik Ellis has won all his fights todate in the first round ~ Jay has won 8 out of 10 fights in the first round.

Comical Ki Quotes

1 - Sensei : " I will teach you all to breath through your toes ! " ( Not with those feet you won't )

2 - Sensei: " My Jo is my friend and my dancing partner ". ( take care doing the Twist )

3 - Sensei: " Aikido is not a Martial Art, it is three exercises". (Years training hard, could have used a Wi i? )

4 - Sensei: " Ki Aikido with ribbons develops movement ". ( So does a Laxative ).

5 - Sensei: " I could feel the change...it was like my finger came alive...and i could see and feel clearer.. ( EUREKA ~ OMG ).

6 - Student: I shouted, projecting my Ki straight through the childs head, coming out the other side. ( Nutter ).

7 - Sensei: In a hostile situation, I would give a stern look, I would say " I don't want to fight, but I will if I need to "..(Conversation 10 seconds-KO recovery 30 min).

8 - Sensei: This Hall is too small, I usually make 40ft Ki throws. (Another nutter ).

9 - Sensei: Aikido to music develops harmonious movement. ( Got another Laxative ? ).

10 - Student: My teacher can look and knock you over at 20yds. ( Reminds me of the wife ).

11 - Sensei: The first duty of an Aikidoka is to protect their assailant ( too many nutters ).

12 - Sensei: Where ever the head goes the body follows..( is there an alterative ? I hope not ?)

13: Sensei: Aikido can reconcile the world..( where Jesus - Mohammed and Toni Bliar have failed ? ).

My favourite.

14: Sensei: if you're stuck in a fight, let them do the work, step away, and watch them look ridiculous. ( Spoken like a true Aikidoka )

My name is Gilmartin, I was one of your students at Slough and Bracknell Sports Centre dojos. I was Mr. Goodwin’s assistant, while John Berloth was yours.I have just become aware of the bewildering tale of Jack Poole. Your account of the facts tally’s precisely with my memory of that period. I can only conclude that poor Jack has suffered a mental breakdown of some nature and lives in a delusion.Congratulations on your success, my years as a student of yours count among the best of my life.
